Jak Martin

Foundation Director

A former pupil of Glyn School who later returned as a teacher and Head of PE, Jak now leads programmes designed to ensure every child has access to the experiences that make school life memorable and enriching.

Jak’s work is driven by a simple belief: when children are given access to enriching opportunities, they engage more, attend more, and gain confidence.

He sees this impact first-hand through the Foundation’s programmes, where participation can make a meaningful difference to pupils’ sense of belonging and enjoyment of school.

Through the Foundation's work, barriers to participation are reduced so that more children can benefit from sports, arts, enrichment opportunities and wider experiences.

Foundation Programme Manager

I am the Deputy Headteacher at Cordwalles Junior School, where I have worked for nine years, and have been fortunate in that time to work across a number of GLF Schools within the Central and West Clusters. I am excited to be undertaking a part-time secondment alongside my DHT role as Foundation Programme Manager. Working with Jak, I will help lead GLF Foundation programmes across the Trust, including Boundless Festival. My experience working with children affected by poverty has shaped my passion for opening doors for vulnerable groups, removing barriers, and ensuring every child feels seen, inspired, and ready for the next stage of their education.

Fundraising Officer

Having worked in various capacities in both the charity sector and with schools across Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire for over 16 years, I joined the GLF Foundation as a Fundraising Officer two years ago. My role is to identify external funding opportunities for our schools and bring these to the attention of Headteachers, the Foundation and colleagues across the Trust, enabling us to support projects and programmes that benefit our students.

A large part of my day to day involves researching and writing grant applications helping to secure funding for initiatives such as educational visits, new libraries, specialist resources or targeted student support. I enjoy working closely with schools to understand their needs and help turn ideas into reality.

What I love most is the opportunity to see the direct impact of the funding we secure. Whether it's providing access to therapies, purchasing new equipment or creating more engaging learning environments, it's incredibly rewarding to know that these projects are making school life more accessible, inclusive and enriching for our students.
