Aspirations were raised when students from Aureus School travelled to London on March 5 for a special careers event.
Year 10 students Milly Mulvey, Antonia Pop, and Ellie Swan attended the Royal Navy International Women’s Day as part of the school’s Careers Week. The three were also participants in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme at the Didcot School.
“It was fantastic to see the possible career paths within the Navy,” said Ellie.
Held on HMS President, the event featured inspirational talks from a diverse selection of guest speakers, as well as from members of the Royal Navy.
“During the day, students had talks from individuals within the Navy, and from guest speakers, including Hannah Botterman, who last year won both the Rugby World Cup and the Six Nations with England,” said Rob Hayden, who is Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Manager at Aureus and accompanied the group.
“Students also had the chance to network with the speakers and other attendees,” he added. “The event showed the students a wide range of inspirational females within the Navy and other careers.”
