Cuddington Croft Primary School in Cheam has been ranked 50th in the country - in the top 0.3% nationally - for 2025 in The Times’ recent ranking of the top 1000 primaries in the country. It was also ranked as the second best primary in the county.
This amazing achievement is the result of years of hard work at Cuddington, driving high standards. The school has been ranked 50th nationally, out of around 21,000 primary schools across England.
The school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in its latest inspection. Ofsted commented that pupils “flourish in a happy and safe learning environment… pupils are proud of their school and community and are delighted to support local charities.”
The Times ranked the top state primary schools based on their performance in standard assessment tests (SATs) taken in 2025. Combined scaled scores in reading, writing and mathematics produce an overall ranking.
Mike Skelton, Head of School at Cuddington Croft, expressed his delight about the school’s achievement. He said:
“This ranking is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our children and staff across the whole school. Our SATs results reflect the high-quality teaching and support children receive throughout their time at Cuddington Croft. Success in SATs is built over many years, and our staff work hard to lay strong foundations that enable children to succeed both in assessments and beyond.
“We are proud to be a school where academic excellence is balanced with enrichment opportunities, trips and extra-curricular activities, ensuring our children leave as confident, well-rounded young people. We are delighted to be ranked among the top 50 primary schools nationally and thank all our children, staff and families who made this possible.”
