On 10th October, Meridian High School proudly hosted the GLF Schools Chess Tournament as part of the Boundless Festival, in partnership with Chess in Schools. The event brought together over 100 students from 22 schools across the Trust, creating a vibrant atmosphere of strategic thinking, focus, and friendly competition.

Throughout the day, pupils from both primary and secondary schools demonstrated impressive skill, composure, and sportsmanship as they competed in team and individual categories. The tournament not only highlighted the intellectual rigour of chess but also provided a platform for collaboration and connection among students from different schools.

Congratulations to our champions:

In the secondary competition, Glyn School claimed first place with 79 points, followed by Merstham Park with 69 points and The Beacon School with 58 points. Individual honours went to Frankie and Conor from The Beacon, who jointly earned gold with 18 points, Anshu from Merstham Park with silver (17 points), and Soham from Glyn School with bronze (16 points).

In the primary category, Cuddington Croft secured the top spot with 71 points, closely followed by Danetree (70 points) and Greenway (69 points). Individual accolades were awarded to Andrew from Cuddington Croft (gold, 17 points), Adhithya from Danetree (silver, 16 points), and Kit from William Morris (bronze, 15 points).
