Hillcroft Primary School Unveils Newly Refurbished Sensory Room

Hillcroft Primary School in Caterham has proudly unveiled its newly refurbished sensory room, made possible through a generous donation by the Caterham, Oxted and Godstone Lions.
The refurbishment, completed over the summer, has transformed the space into a calming and engaging environment designed to meet the needs of all children, particularly those who benefit from additional sensory support.
The upgraded room now features a range of new equipment, including a sensory massage puzzle mat, rain lightning wall kit, light-up jellyfish, an infinity mirror, textured bean bags, a sensory mood light, liquid sensory tiles, and a pop-up sensory den with LED carpet.
These resources create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where children can relax and thrive.
Rita, President of the Caterham, Oxted and Godstone Lions, visited the school to officially open the refurbished room and see first-hand the positive impact it will have on learners.
Carly Gear, Interim Deputy Headteacher at Hillcroft Primary, said: “We are so grateful for this incredible support, which has enabled us to enhance our Thrive provision and ensure we can meet the needs of every child. The sensory room is already making a real difference, providing a space where learners can feel calm, focused, and supported.”
This project highlights the strong partnership between Hillcroft Primary School and the local community, and reflects GLF Schools’ commitment to ensuring all children can access enriching environments that support their personal and emotional development.
