New Family Centre opens at Springfield Primary School
BackA new Family Centre has been opened at Springfield Primary School in Sunbury-on-Thames. The Family Centre will be a warm and welcoming space where parents and carers can access a range of services, guidance, and opportunities to connect with each other.
Spelthorne MP Lincoln Jopp cut the ribbon to officially open the family centre, which will provide a new hub for families to get advice and support - especially for parents and carers with pre-school children.
Some of the key features of the Family Centre will include:
- Parent Workshops delivered by external agencies, offering practical advice and strategies on topics such as behaviour, wellbeing, Special Educational Needs (SEN), and parenting skills.
- Coffee Mornings, providing a relaxed space for parents to meet, chat, and share experiences.
- Little Springers (0–2 years Stay and Play) sessions for parents with babies and toddlers, offering an opportunity for social interaction and early play experiences.
- School-based Support, where families can access tailored guidance and signposting regarding behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and SEN-related concerns.
The Family Centre is located on the same site as the school, with its own secure access to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children, families, and visitors.
Caroline Gibbins, Headteacher, Springfield Primary School, said: “Our vision is to build a strong partnership with families to support children's development, wellbeing, and learning. We know that when children get the very best start at school, they then have the opportunity to really thrive and achieve their full potential. We believe this is a fantastic opportunity to work together more closely, create stronger connections within our community, and ensure that every child and family feels supported and valued. ”
Springfield Primary School is a two-form mixed entry school based in Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey. The school joined GLF Schools in December 2013 and has classes from Nursery to Year 6.
