New Headteacher joins Wheatfield Primary School

Welcome to Heidi Ray who has started as Head of Wheatfield Primary School from this month.

Wheatfield was judged to be ‘good’ by Ofsted in its most recent inspection, with strong praise for its inclusive ethos and dedicated staff team.

Mrs Ray brings a wealth of leadership experience to her new role, coming from Battle Primary Academy in Reading, where she served as vice principal.

She said: “I am incredibly excited to join the Wheatfield community. It’s clear that the school is a special place, with a strong team and a genuine commitment to children’s development and wellbeing.

“I look forward to getting to know our pupils and families, and working together to ensure every child receives the best possible education.”

Mrs Ray is widely experienced in raising standards across the curriculum, supporting staff development, and building positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community. She is a passionate advocate for therapeutic approaches to behaviour and creating nurturing, inclusive environments that help children flourish.

Under her leadership the Battle Primary Academy was awarded ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted in November 2024. Her appointment to Wheatfield marks an exciting new chapter for the primary school, reflecting its continued focus on excellence and pupil wellbeing.

Wheatfield Primary School is a one-form mixed entry school based in Winnersh, Berkshire. The school joined GLF Schools in September 2014 and has classes from Nursery to Year 6.
