William Morris Celebrates Glowing Ofsted Report

William Morris Primary School in Banbury is celebrating after receiving a highly positive Ofsted report confirming that the school continues to deliver an exceptional standard of education.

Following a recent inspection, Ofsted has recognised that the school has taken action to maintain the ‘Outstanding’ standards identified in its previous inspection. The report highlights a welcoming atmosphere, high expectations, and a strong culture of learning throughout the school.

This glowing feedback comes on the heels of the school’s excellent 2025 SATs results, where 74% of pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths (combined)—well above the national average of 62%.

Inspectors described pupils as “extremely polite and friendly”, adding that they “take pride in their school and delight in showing it off to visitors.” The school’s warm and inclusive ethos has also been praised by parents and carers, many of whom describe William Morris as an “amazing community with great leaders and staff.”

The report notes that school leaders foster a culture of high expectations, with pupils demonstrating a palpable love of learning, looking forward to lessons, and showing consistently positive attitudes toward their work.

Headteacher Alastair Johns said:

“We are absolutely delighted with the feedback from Ofsted, which is a testament to the commitment, expertise, and care shown daily by our staff and the enthusiasm and respect shown by our pupils.

“We are especially proud that our inclusive, high-expectations culture and love of learning shine through. Our recent SATs results further reflect this shared success and the strength of our school community.”

Inspectors said that pupils conduct themselves with thought and consideration, contributing to a calm and productive school environment.

A particular strength identified was the school’s focus on reading:“Reading is the backbone of the curriculum. The school works very well to promote pupils’ love of reading… they learn to read fluently and with confidence.”

William Morris Primary School is a one-form mixed entry school based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. The school joined GLF Schools in February 2016 and has classes from Nursery to Year 6.
