On 24 May 42 students and 6 staff from Glyn school travelled to Kenya for 10 days to undertake volunteering in schools in Nakuru, approx. 95miles northwest of Nairobi.  The students from across Year 9 and 10 were involved in many projects both academic and construction across 3 schools: The Walk Centre, Love G and Angallo Hills, including building a toilet block and retiling a classroom floor as well as delivering maths, science and English lessons to the children.

The Glyn students excelled in all areas and were incredible ambassadors for the school, with their exemplary behaviour, commitment and manners recognised everywhere they went. It was a joy to see the students help, support and interact with the children in Nakuru and to see the joy all students got from the experience was incredible.  Many tears were shed when it was time to say goodbye, leave the schools and return to Nairobi. The trip ended with some sight seeing and a visit to a giraffe centre where students had the opportunity to feed giraffes as well as going on a safari in Nairobi Wildlife Park where they were incredibly fortunate to see four of the big 5, including a lioness and rhinoceros, a real highlight for the trip.
