Pine Ridge praised for providing “truly excellent start to children's education”

Pine Ridge Infant School has received highly positive feedback following its recent ungraded Ofsted inspection, with the report indicating significant improvement across all areas.  

The report also found that parents and staff are unanimously proud to be part of an “aspirational school” which is “dedicated to providing a truly excellent start to children's education”, where pupils feel confident, safe, and supported. The commitment to high expectations, tailored support, and nurturing pupils' interests and ambitions is clearly evident according to inspectors. 

 

Key Findings 

  • Pupils are thriving and enjoying learning at this "inspirational school". Staff have a deep understanding of young children's needs and provide boundless opportunities for exploration and learning. 
  • Teachers possess excellent subject knowledge and know precisely what pupils must understand and in which order. They systematically check for understanding to ensure no pupil falls behind. 
  • In Nursery and Reception, staff skilfully teach the curriculum through children’s interests. Children are engrossed in learning and sustain high levels of concentration.  
  • The school places reading firmly at the heart of the curriculum. Staff have highly effective professional development and are experts at teaching phonics. 
  • Children are making rapid progress through an interesting and well-sequenced curriculum. They rise to exceptionally high expectations and share joy in learning. 
  • Staff are experts in using effective methods to help pupils develop language understanding and access the curriculum. They teach pupils ambitious technical vocabulary in every subject. Staff use pictures and resources effectively, so that all pupils can take part in high-quality discussions 
  • The school effectively identifies and supports pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). It also provides expert, tailored support for children with low starting points in speech, language, and communication or those new to English 
  • The school has high expectations for behaviour, teaching consistent routines and helping pupils manage their emotions.

Pine Ridge & Lorraine is a federation of one-form mixed entry nurseries & infant schools located in Camberley, Surrey. The schools joined GLF Schools in February 2017 and have classes from Nursery to Year 2.
