Councillor Clare Curran, Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Lifelong Learning visited Warlingham Village School to find out more about the school’s ambitious curriculum and distinctive education.
Cllr Curran was given a tour of the school, meeting students and staff who updated the councillor on the latest achievements and facilities at the school.
Headteacher Anna Arnett explained how the innovative Warlingham Windmill Curriculum incorporates seven areas which go beyond the National Curriculum. This approach feeds into all aspects of the academic timetable as well as extra-curricular activities. The school offers an ‘entitlement document’ to ensure the seven threads are consistently offered to all children in all year groups to ensure a fully inclusive approach.
Councillor Curran was also shown the projects designed with the needs of the children in mind, including the gardening and wildlife project.
Anna Arnett, Headteacher, Warlingham Village Primary School said: “We were delighted to show Councillor Curran around our school and give her the opportunity to see how we have developed an innovative curriculum which allows our teachers and staff to support each pupil. We are also very proud of our inclusive approach, which helps every child build confidence and explore their potential."
