Hillcroft Primary School Retains Thrive School of Excellence Gold Award
Back
Hillcroft Primary School has been awarded a Thrive School of Excellence Gold Award, the highest accolade from the charity which supports school wellbeing. The achievement recognises the school’s core commitment to embedding social and emotional development within the whole school community.
Hillcroft was first awarded a Gold Award in 2022 and has been praised for continuing to prioritise the Thrive approach, ensuring every child receives weekly sessions tailored to their needs - whether through class-based, small-group, or one-to-one support.
The awarding of the Thrive School of Excellence Gold Award follows a rigorous re-accreditation process, including an external moderation visit, which successfully demonstrated the lasting impact of Thrive on the school’s culture, relationships and pupil outcomes. This recognition celebrates the collective effort of staff, the engagement of pupils, and the support of the wider school community. A special celebration day is currently being planned for Friday 27th June.
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, with the theme ‘Community’, highlighting the importance of connection, support, and kindness. In the Thrive lessons, staff and pupils will be exploring the beautiful story The Boy with Flowers in His Hair, which promotes powerful messages of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity.
For Year 6 pupils, the school will be making sure their day starts positively and calmly during SATs week by providing a healthy breakfast each morning.
Carly Gear, Assistant Head Teacher, Hillcroft Primary School said: “We are thrilled to be awarded the prestigious Thrive School of Excellence Gold Award. We’re all delighted that the school’s emphasis on wellbeing and support for every child has been recognised and praised in this wonderful way. Our staff and students really do benefit from the focus we have on creating a culture which does indeed allow everyone to thrive at Hillcroft.”
