Students from Rosebery School showcased their talents during February when they staged a modern interpretation of Peter Pan, written by Evan Placey and first performed at the Rose Theatre, Kingston in 2023.

Auditions were held back in the Autumn term and, due to the number of students interested in taking part, 2 full casts were created - giving the opportunity for 130 students to have the experience of taking part in a live performance.

The story itself sticks to the original tale, however there are some poignant reflections, delivered through the narrator-character of 'Gran', about growing up and what it means to become an adult in today's world.

Audiences were full of praise:

"I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff who gave up so many hours of their time to enable the students to participate in the joyous and meaningful experience that was the Peter Pan production! My daughter loved being in the cast and is already looking forward to hopefully being involved in next year's show. It was a great show - congratulations to all involved, cast and backstage crew!"

"I wanted to say a huge thank you for all the hard work you and the production team at Rosebery put into the Peter Pan performances. It really was spectacular. And all those amazing props! Thanks so much to the art department too. I cried at the end! It was incredibly moving and the students did amazingly well remembering all their lines."

"I just wanted to say well done on last week's production of 'Peter Pan'. It was an utter joy watching your students throw themselves into performance with a sense of joy and mutual support. What a fantastic cast. Productions do not happen without an enormous amount of hard work and I congratulate you and your team for the fantastic show."
