Good news all round at Floreat Wandsworth

The Ofsted inspector found that Floreat Wandsworth remains a good school, with evidence suggesting that the “the inspection grade might be outstanding if a graded (section 5) inspection were carried out now”.

The inspector noted that the children are “safe, happy and they achieve well”. He recognised the “very high expectations of pupils’ behaviour” and the strong focus on character values, complimenting the good behaviour of the children and their kindness and consideration towards others.

The inspector praised the “rich and ambitious curriculum”, which has been well planned and exceeds the scope of the national curriculum. He saw that from Nursery and Reception children work hard and develop good habits for learning, noting that the “caring and well-trained teachers” ensure all children access the whole curriculum, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and he recognised the enrichment offered through trips and activities.

The inspector acknowledged the focus on reading, observing that “the teaching of early reading is effective (and) pupils who need more help are identified quickly.” He also noted that teachers have “strong subject knowledge and know their pupils very well.”

He praised the strong relationship families have with the school, stating that “parents and carers feel fully involved in the life of the school” and remarked on the very well attended family learning sessions and parents’ positive engagement in supporting their child’s learning.

This is the first Ofsted inspection since Floreat Wandsworth joined GLF Schools in September 2019, and since then the school has expanded the nursery offering to include provision for two-year-olds.
