GLF Schools is celebrating another year of strong outcomes for pupils, with improved results in Phonics and Early Years and exceptional results in the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check.

Exceptional Performance in the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check

This year, GLF pupils delivered outstanding results in the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), significantly outperforming the most recently published national averages.

Across the Trust, pupils achieved an average score of 23.7 out of 25, while 59.3% achieved full marks. This compares with the 2025 national averages of 21.0 and 37% respectively.

The strength of performance was evident in every GLF primary school. All 30 schools recorded average scores above last year’s national average, while 27 schools achieved a higher proportion of pupils scoring full marks than last year’s national figure.

Particularly encouraging was the achievement of pupils eligible for pupil premium funding. Across GLF, these pupils achieved an average score of 22.8, exceeding the most recent national average achieved by pupils who were not known to be disadvantaged nationally. This demonstrates the impact of high-quality teaching, targeted support and high expectations in helping to narrow attainment gaps and promote educational equity.

The Trust's MTC performance has improved year on year, with the rate of improvement outpacing national trends in both average scores and the proportion of pupils achieving full marks.

Continued Improvements in Early Years and Phonics

We are also celebrating improvements in Phonics and in Early Years. For instance, GLF is already ahead of the target for children reaching a Good Level of Development of 75% which has been set for 2028, with a significant number of schools above 80%.

Key Stage 2 Results - strengths in reading and writing

Colleagues across GLF schools worked very hard to manage the delayed publication of KS2 results, ensuring that all pupils and families knew their outcomes and were offered support before the end of term.

Our provisional KS2 outcomes showed reading and writing as particular strengths above national average, with some schools seeing significant improvements across the board.

These outcomes reflect the determination, expertise and commitment of colleagues across GLF Schools, alongside the support of families and of course the hard work of children themselves.

As we celebrate this year's successes, we remain committed to building on these strong foundations and ensuring even more pupils benefit from excellent teaching, high expectations and the opportunities they deserve throughout their educational journey.
