Floreat Wandsworth primary school marked a significant double milestone this week, as a new library was opened to coincide with its tenth anniversary.
The opening ceremony was attended by Warwick Sharp, Chief Executive of GLF Schools, and local MP Rosena Allin-Khan. She joined pupils, staff and families to cut the ribbon and say a few words to mark the occasion.
The event kicked off a full week of celebrations honouring a decade since Floreat Wandsworth first opened its doors to the community it serves.
Matthew Custance, Headteacher of Floreat Wandsworth, said: "A library is one of the most important gifts a school can give its pupils, and opening this one was the perfect way to mark ten years. We have worked so hard as a community to make this happen, and we were delighted to welcome Warwick and Rosena to celebrate with us. This week has been for every child, member of staff and family who has been part of our journey."
Warwick Sharp, Chief Executive of GLF Schools, said: "Ten years is a wonderful milestone, and a new library is exactly the kind of investment in children's futures that makes me proud of what GLF Schools communities can achieve together. I was so pleased to join Floreat Wandsworth's pupils and staff this week and share in what was a fantastic week of celebration."
The ceremony featured a performance of the school song by pupils, tributes to the fundraisers and PTA whose efforts made the library possible, and a ribbon-cutting.
Floreat Wandsworth Primary School is a two-form mixed entry school based in Wandsworth, London. The school joined GLF Schools in September 2019 and has classes from Nursery to Year 6.
